Permaculture briefly means the growth of agricultural ecosystems in a self-sufficient and sustainable way. In simple terms, it also means permanent agriculture and permanent culture.
In March 2020, the support of food to refugees by the World Food program was reduced from 31000 Ugx equivalent to 9 dollars to 19000 Ugx equivalent to 5 dollars per head to feed on for the whole month which can’t be sufficient for a person including home basic needs. 

In May 2020, Janvier Hafasha the Executive Director of God’s Hope Foundation Uganda got a scholarship to study permaculture Design certificate course PDC with support from the Permaculture education institute in Australia. After his completion came back to kyaka II refugee camp and introduced/ established permaculture which was the bath of Kyaka II Permayouth group to build a smart effective community that focuses on increasing accessibility and affordability to highly nutritious food products and creating income-generating activities of refugees self-reliance and sustainability.
